I’m a freelance journalist and audio producer from Northern Ireland, based in Los Angeles.

I cover social issues, health and gender, with reporting in The Guardian, Vice, The Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, New Statesman, Al Jazeera and more. My audio work — spanning field reporting through to sound design — has appeared in NPR, KQED, BBC, DW, Ochenta, PRX and others. I’ve reported from around the world, investigating sex trafficking in Thailand, gendered violence in Mexico, the use of ketamine for depression, and more.

I’ve worked on interview and narrative podcasts, including scripting and editing. Credits include There’s a Poem in That, Our Voices, ZOE Science & Nutrition, The Kind City and The Reinventors.

I have a Master’s in Journalism and NCTJ qualifications. I trained in narrative audio storytelling with the Peabody-award winning organisation Transom, and in summer 2021 completed an audio documentary residency at UnionDocs in Brooklyn. I’m a member of the Association for Independents in Radio (AIR) and write The Audio Storyteller newsletter, featuring gigs and resources for audio producers and podcasters.

I have a background in the nonprofit space, having worked in communications for a mental health and addiction charity, as well as an education start-up. I mentor young female writers through WriteGirl and am an executive trustee on the board of the NGO Women Working Worldwide.
